First Aid Training for Coaches

Safety, being safe and knowing what to do in an emergency should be considered in all we do.

To set a standard at ERC, first aid training was organised for the clubs' coaches and was held last Saturday 26/6/21 at the club.

We had 11 participants attending the practical session 9am - 4.30pm.

Meet your HLTAID003 requalified (or newly qualified) Emergency First aid contacts: Sam Wilson, Will Tozer, Simone Richardson, Dale Bell, Marie-Clarie Gemmell, Glenn Bottrell, Christine Mitchell, Leone Richards (FCRC), Zara Mason, Mark Dwyer, Tim Juzefowicz

The gracious Raelene Heddie from Emergency First Aid Pty Ltd covered our curly questions with finesse and enthusiasm. The online components covered the theory and the tests. The practical session covered the application of the theory and the techniques (e.g., compression bandaging, administering EpiPen’s and CPR with defibrillator machine).

A big thank you to Lisa Gandolfo (ERC Safety Officer) for organising the day.

Be dressed to impress and be the star of the night.

The Push-up Challenge 2021 completed

Congratulations to Team ERC achieving 39,728 Push-ups and over $800 raised in 25 days. The target was 3,318 push-ups in 25 days. Nationally over $8 million was raised with funds being used to aid mental health.

Draft RV 2021 - 2022 Regatta Calendar

Rowing Victoria (RV) has drafted season 2021 - 2022 regatta calendar for clubs to review and comment.

It is expected that first up on the calendar is the Saltwater Challenge Regatta. We hope all goes to plan and ERC can host the annual event. A sponsor for the event has been found and is being finalised by the Saltwater Challenge Committee.

Squad Training and Rowing Events

In preparation for the new season, we have squads back into regular training doing the km's, exercising, and lifting weights.

The 2021 Winter Sculling Series on the Yarra has started, and 3 rounds completed with 181 scullers entered last week!

ERC's scullers competing are Elissa Mirabelli, Annika Sirotic and Sven Huttermann.

The event is raced in heats and scullers given a time handicap for the 2km event.  Good luck with racing and hope the handicapper is kind.

There are some who have set a personal challenge of completing and competing in the Flying Doctor Rowathon. A long-distance event of over 80km on the Darling and Murray Rivers hosted by the Wentworth District Rowing Club is planned to be held on 02/10/21. It is the longest one-day marathon rowing regatta in Australia. Funds raised will for Wellness (Mental Health) Programs in remote Communities. Best of luck with training and the event.

The Rowathon Day

The Boat Ramp

There nothing new to report on the boat ramp. The club is waiting on news from the Minister and BBV.

Community Clean Up - Tea Gardens Avondale Heights 3/7/21

Last Saturday, there was a Community Clean Up day by people wanting to make a difference to the environment around the Tea Gardens. This was very good timing for the Saltwater Challenge due in September.

If you do see litter and rubbish around our club and landing area, take a moment and chose to care and bin it.
