Raleigh Road bridgeworks

Transport Victoria have advised the following information in relation to the Raleigh Road bridgeworks:

From 8pm Friday 2 May until 3am Monday 12 May 2025, buses will replace tram services on Route 82 and part of Route 57.

From 11pm Friday 2 May until 3am Monday 12 May 2025 Raleigh Road will be reduced to one lane in either direction while we undertake bridge strengthening works. These works are to ensure the bridge is ready for Next Generation Trams to operate along Raleigh Road from the new Maidstone Tram Depot.

What to expect during works

  • 24-hour works will occur during this period. Low noise levels are expected.
  • lane will be closed in both directions on Raleigh Road around the work area and motorists should expect delays and plan ahead.
  • Tram services will be disrupted with replacement bus services operating on Raleigh Road.
  • Buses will replace Route 82 trams between Moonee Ponds and Footscray, diverting around the work zone via Rosamond Road.
  • Buses will replace Route 57 trams between Stop 39 Bowen St and West Maribyrnong
  • On-water exclusion zones will be in place with signage to alert rivers users to changed conditions.
  • Pedestrians and bike riders travelling along the Maribyrnong River Trail may be required to detour via the pedestrian crossing signals at Raleigh Road / Clyde Street intersection at times. Onsite signage will be in place to alert users to changed conditions.

From 13 May until mid-June 2025 ongoing bridge works will occur between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday to minimise disruption.
